Warm Winds Grouch 2.0 & Wahoo Twin
Two new models for 2023

Warm Winds started as a backyard surfboard brand back in 1973. What began as passion for building surfboards evolved into a full blown surf retail operation by 1983. Since then, we’ve set out to curate the best possible surfboard selection from shapers all over the US, keeping our boardroom stacked with over 500 surfboards all year long.

Throughout that time, we've remained true to our roots and sprinkled in limited releases of Warm Winds surfboards over the years. Some retro stuff, some progressive stuff, and plenty of models that fit in between.

This year, we're proud to announce another run of Warm Winds surfboards - designed for and built on the East Coast.

To date, these are two of the best outlines that we've ever built...

Warm Winds Surfboards

The Grouch 2

The first version of the Grouch was released in 2010 to serve as a performance shortboard for smaller surf - waves in the waist to chest high zone. It was wider, and stubbier than most boards on the market at the time and was a favorite of our customers for a couple years before it was retired to the archives.

Over 10 years later, we wanted to take another look at making the ideal daily shortboard for the North East.

We took a look at the OG grouch, made it a bit stubbier and shifted the wide point a touch back. This added some volume board overall, but we still kept some performance under the hood.

The Grouch 2

STUBBY OUTLINE
Allows this board to paddle easy and perform when the waves haven’t quite shown up.

FULL NOSE
Increased paddle power and speed, balanced with performance.

WIDEPOINT SHIFTED SLIGHTLY BACK
More maneuverable and responsive off the tail. Works well in beach break

ROUNDED SQUASH
Keeps the tail wide and stable, while still offering some hold in a steeper face.

SINGLE TO DOUBLE CONCAVE
Single up front for good planing surface and drive, double through the back end to loosen up the board and help it turn.

MELLOW ROCKER
We kept the rocker mellow to help with paddling and give it some speed in sub-par waves.

THRUSTER SETUP
The board was designed to be ridden as a thruster, and they all feature Futures finboxes. We recommend the XYZ fins.

Ride your Grouch 2 about 4 inches shorter than your performance board, or about 1-2 liters higher. It should fit between your high performance shortboard and your retro fish.

The Grouch 2 works best in waves from waist to head high. Works very well in beach break conditions!

Grouch 2 Dimensions

5'7" x 19.44 x 2.38 @ 28.5L

5'8" x 19.56 x 2.44 @  29.5L

5'9" x 19.69 x 2.44 @ 30.5L

5'10" x 19.82 x 2.50 @ 31.5

6'0" x 20.06 x 2.63 @ 33.5L

6'2" x 20.32 x 2.63 @ 35.5L

Wahoo Twin

This is not just another retro fish.

The Wahoo Twin was designed to add performance to the traditional retro twin fin and allow you to draw progressive lines on a fish, all while keeping the same stylish curves that we all love to see on a fish.

TRADITIONAL FISH OUTLINE
Overall wide outline from tail to nose = easy paddling, increased speed, and stability.

WIDEPOINT FORWARD
Gets the volume under your chest to help with paddling and getting into the wave early.

REFINED RAILS
Performance rails to give the bite and control of a shortboard

RETRO PERFORMANCE TAIL
Traditional style fish tail, pulled in slightly. Still enough width to enhance the speed, but thin and pulled in enough pull off some proper turns.

HIDDEN TAIL ARCH
We don’t condone putting a pad on a fish. That's why we added an “arch” in the deck of the tail, to give the feeling of grip and control without needing the pad.

TWIN FIN
This board is designed to be ridden as a twin, and come stock with Futures finboxes. We recommend the Futures EN fins.

SINGLE TO DOUBLE CONCAVE
Single up front for good planing surface and drive, double through the back end to loosen up the board and help it turn.

We recommend riding the Wahoo Twin about 3-4 inches shorter than your performance shortboard. If you have a true retro fish, ride the Wahoo about 2-3 inches bigger.

The Wahoo Twin performs in knee to head high surf, and can even be pushed into some bigger waves. Works best at pointbreaks, but can also be fun at the beach.

Wahoo Twin Dimensions

5'7" x 20.25 x 2.44 @ 30L

5'9" x 20.5 x 2.5 @ 32L

5'11" x 20.75 x 2.75 @ 34L

6'1" x 21 x 2.63 @ 36L

Swing by the boardroom to check these out! Customs option is available for both models as well!
