Surf Camp: Session 08 (August 5 - August 8, 2024)
Welcome to Warm Winds Surf Camp - Session 8!
August is here and summer is in full swing for session 8 of surf camp here in 'Gansett.
Nothing beats a day filled with surf and sun in the heat of the summer!
At this point in the season, water temps have warmed up to the point where wetsuits are not needed.
We will still have them available for use for all campers, and can offer a special surf camper discount if you prefer to purchase your own.
Choose the right surf track!
For this session, we will field registrations on two tracks - AM and PM. Selecting the appropriate track should depend primarily on age. Age ranges are 6-13 for the AM track, and 11-17 for the PM track. Age ranges do overlap with one another to accommodate several common situations we have run into over the years.
AM Track: Ages 6 - 13, 9am to 2pm (5 hours)
This is our tried and true surf camp experience! It’s jam packed with surfing (of course), education sessions, and plenty of fun hands on games/activities that promote surfing and the surf lifestyle.
PM Track: Ages 11 - 17, 2:30pm to 6pm (3.5 hours)
This program features most of what we built into the surf camp over the years, but offers a bit more surf focus (and less beach games). Great opportunity for campers with some surf experience to further progress their surfing and meet new friends in their age group.
Registration Notes
To begin registration, click the button to the left. You will be prompted to enter parent/guardian information first, followed by attendee/participant information.
To make registration a breeze, please have the below information ready when you begin:
- Camp week and track
- Parent or Legal guardian name, phone, email, mailing address
- Total number of participants
- Participant names and ages
- Party nickname*
- Select alternate (backup) camp weeks (optional)**
At this time, we are only allowing campers to register for one week to allow others the opportunity to get in.
*A quick note about coordinating with other families - to help us verify that participants have registered for the correct week, we recommend choosing a party name (nickname) and share this with other families that wish to register for the same week.
**Some weeks will fill faster than others. When attempting to register, if the week you have selected is full, you could first try to find an alternate week and register for that instead. If the alternate week(s) you have selected are also full, or are unable to attend any other week, do not lose hope. Inevitably, there is a LOT of shuffling once signups close that occurs because of rescheduling, cancellations, and the like. On average, each camp week is likely to cycle 3-4 spots in the weeks following registration opening. To facilitate fair and efficient fill-in registrations, we will have a separate placeholder event. During registration, you can provide as many alternate weeks as possible you would be able to attend. Obviously, there is no cost for doing so, and would not represent your commitment to attend any camp week you have marked available. It will simply help us create a list of possible backups to call in the exact order in which the registrations were received.
What to expect after registering?
After completing the registration process you will immediately receive an email confirmation.
We’ll be reaching out within the next few weeks with registration forms and a waiver that must be completed for each participant prior to the start of camp. These forms gather all the necessary info so that we can provide a safe and exceptional surf camp experience for everyone.
