Surf Camp Dates 2024

Surf Camp Frequently Asked Questions

Camper safety is extremely important to us - therefore we always have a maximum student to instructor ratio of 5:1, and often as low as 3:1. This way campers get the attention they need to maximize safety and surf coaching.

Our surf camps accept kids from age 6 thru 17.We have two "tracks" for surf camps, that depend mostly on age:

AM Track: Ages 6-13 (9am - 2pm)

PM Track: Ages 11-17 (2:30pm - 6pm)

These tracks were designed to give campers of all age levels the best possible surf camp experience!

Warm Winds will provide all gear required for surfing, including surfboards, rashguards, and wetsuits (if necessary). All surf campers should bring the following packed in a backpack that is easy to carry:

Lunch, Plenty of water, Sunscreen + Sunglasses, Towel, Shoes/Sandals, Sweathshirt, Hat for sun protection, Raincoat for poor weather

We also recommend a pair of lycra shorts for male campers to wear under their wetsuits to prevent rash from surfing all day and playing beach games. If a rash does occur, we recommend a rash gel that can relieve discomfort for the remainder of the week. These items can be purchased at our retail location.

Surf camp registrations must be made via our website, and spots cannot be held. A link to our surf camp registration page will be listed on our main surf camp page if there are spots open. Once camps are full, the registration link will be removed.

Feel free to give us a call anytime during normal business hours to add your name to our waitlist at (401) 789-9040.

Our friendly staff will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the program.

No worries! Our surf camps are open to surfers of all skill levels.

The PM track of surf camp will offer the best experience for kids with prior surf experience who are looking to progress further. We spend a bit less time on the beach playing games/activities, and focus more on surf.

Whether it's their first season surfing, or they're a seasoned surf camp vet - Warm Winds instructors will take their surfing to a new level!

Our team of qualified surf instructors have a combined experience of over 40 years. They live to surf and are true ambassadors of the lifestyle. Every instructor is certified in both CPR and First Response, and has been trained thoroughly by our team of lead surf instructors.

There will also be active lifeguards on duty at the Town Beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Feel free to bring your own wetsuits to camp, however bringing you're own surfboard must be approved by Warm Winds prior to day 1 of camp. If you plan on bringing your own surfboard, please give us a call before camp.

At surf camp we use a fleet of soft top surfboards that are both safe and fun for everyone to use. All of the equipment is available for purchase at Warm Winds Surf Shop. Please reach out to our team for questions related to equipment.

Surf Camp is held at Narragansett Town Beach, located at 29 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett, Rhode Island 02882.

We ask that all surf campers get dropped off at the semi-circle/drop off spot in front of the South Pavilion @ Narragansett Town Beach at 9:00 AM for the AM Surf Camp track, and 2:30pm for the PM Surf Camp track.

This is where you will meet our team of instructors and check in will begin. PLEASE DO NOT PULL INTO THE SOUTH PARKING LOT FOR DROP OFF - PER THE TOWN OF NARRAGANSETT. Note: Please arrive 10 minutes early on the first day of camp.

No worries! Since surfing is primarily a "wet" sport, we typically hold camp during rainstorms unless thunderstorms or heavy wind/dangerous conditions occur. Therefore, it is important for campers to have something warm and dry to put on - pack a sweatshirt and rain coat.

During rain days - we typically have a long session in the morning and then take a trip to the shop and watch a movie during lunch time while everyone drys up. Pick up will likely be at the shop on rain days, but we will communicate this in advance.

If the weather is really bad and conditions do not allow for camp to run, we will cancel the day and use Friday as the make up day. We will typically make the announcement to parents the night before, or around 8 am the latest in the event of cancellation.

All cancellations and rescheduling must be made at least 1 week prior to the start of camp.

Any cancellations made within 7 days to 72-hours prior to the start of camp will only be eligible for a partial refund (50%). If you reschedule in this time window, a rescheduling fee of $75 will be assessed.

Cancellations within 72-hours of the start of camp will incur the full charge of the camp - no refunds + no ability to reschedule.

Please get in touch with our staff and get put on the waitlist for a week that is full. Things change, and cancellations do happen!

Unfortunately we cannot allow campers to make up missed surf camp days in another week.
